I want an opinion from the uncles of this site.Hopefully men will be able to shed more light on this. Is it true that majority of men only like curvaceous figures?

Please help me understand. Thanks in advance.

I am US size10.I am not sure if that makes me skinny.I don't really think I need reassurance with a size10.

I feel strongly as you are still attached to your opinion."Men are attracted to curves.".Many of them perhaps. But Many of them still get attracted to slim friends of mine who are MODELS.Contrary to what men think about models, many of my model friends are intelligent and eat right too.You were against "thin" remember.

I tried to tell you the survey was taken with 14 people.I tried to post a question here where it was an almost equal divide. But you still insist that curvaceous is what men prefer.I personally think you are the one who is curvy and want to prove a fact. You can keep repeating it if you want to convince yourself.Am off to have fun.Ciao.

Thanks for all the answers Uncles and aunts.I had lots of fun reading them.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2010):

Hi, I'm the anon from the other post that started this debate.

I think the term curvaceous, like BeingBlack pointed out, has a tricky meaning. You have to specify. Of course a lot of people will think curvy = fat and such.

The question is do men like hourglasses? Of course they do. I also think you wrote a loaded question. You asked "do men only like...". Of course men don't like ONLY one thing, they like a variety of things, but I'm 100% most men will tell you that at least visually, they'll be mre drawn to look at a slim hourglass than a skinny woman.

Now of course you and me know that this is just a matter of preference and in the end it says nothing about the capacity to love or be in a relationship. Men can be attracted to many women, and when they fall in love, looks don't matter. Men aren't shallow. And it can happen that a stunningly attractive woman can be a pain in the ass like domo_kun mentioned.

Now OP, without wanting to be rude, I'd like to know why do you feel SO strongly about this? You seemed ready to attack my posts on the other questions and present me a lot of evidence to kind of prove me I'm wrong. Now you start this topic. I'd like to know, why do you feel so strongly about this? Is it insecurity about your body? Is it because you're skinny and you need reassurance? If so, don't feel like that! Yes, most men (I'm not saying all men) feel more attracted to curvy women like Scarlet Johanson, with big breasts, a small waist and big hips. But like you said yourself in a relationship such things don't matter. Hey I have tiny breasts and some cellulite on my thighs, men aren't usually attracted to that and certainly not many men have a cellulite fetish! But I've learned to live with that, because I know in the end a man will love me.

I don't think many men would kick Kiera Knightley or Nicole Kidman out of their bed, even if they prefer curvy women, just because those two are also smoking hot and beautiful.

But in a raw, first impression way, men can't help but be attracted to at least look at curves. I've heard it's because circular shapes remind them of sex. Why? I don't think they even know. But they're overall attracted to femininity, and even the skinniest bodies, even the bodies with less curves look feminine and delicate, so don't worry about what men prefer or don't prefer.

And yes, if you're a skinny 41-50 year old in the US rest assured your friends probably envy you and a lot of men would like to sleep with you, curves or no curves.

DoubleM agony auntWell I have to agree much with "strontiumdog" in that I enjoy whatever my woman has, but it is mainly because I'm considered a much older man now. My preference would be athletic or somewhat curvy, but help me find that among American women over 50 today. Preferences, or at least what is acceptable, changes with age. The alternative is being alone.

Most guys I know prefer skinny chicks.

But I think it's dumb to generalise people by going 'oh most guys like this' or 'guys like this better' I mean- you can't count for every guy out there can you? And we shouldn't just assume everything the media throws at us is correct.

Do Men Prefer Thin , Curvy, Voluptuous Or Big Women ?

We all come in different shapes and sizes but women have the tendency to watch their weights whenever they eat.

Their weight and size is like a strict religion for them to follow and this is like a curse to them for being a woman.

They are either eating not enough or overeating and suffer from eating disorders like Bulimia and Anorexia .

They go to great lengths to have a fit and toned body and watch what they tuck inside their mouth. But unknown to some of them , the more they pummeled their bodies into a great shape, the more intimidating it becomes to the men.

Fatherly Advice agony auntdisclaimer: I didn't read all the answers.

Over the course of my life I have been attracted to different things in women. My theory is that the woman that I have the strongest emotional tie to dictates what I find attractive. And indeed what catches my eye. I was thinking of putting in some things that always turn me off, but I'm afraid that some day I'd have to eat those words. I'm happily married, but I still enjoy viewing an attractive woman. It just sends signals down my pleasure pathways. All of the women who are attractive to me are not clones of my wife, but they do share at least one attribute.

You asked about athletic specifically twice, so I find an athletic skinny woman more attractive than a non athletic slim woman. Same goes for short or large women. I would say that energy is attractive.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2010):

On average, most men want women to be a bit curvy but not fat.

The fashion industry is not selling what men like in women, they are selling what other women like to see. The extreme pressure that some women feel to be sizes like 2 and 1 and 0 cannot be blamed on men's desires. That is something that women as a group are doing to themselves.

A male reader, Beingblack United Kingdom +, writes (4 March 2010):

Beingblack agony auntCurvy is a somewhat confusing term for women. When one woman says another is 'curvy', they often seem to be saying in a kind and gentle way that she is fat. Anything above size zero seems to be too big to women, mainly because they are force fed 'slimness' night and day in the media, magazines, fashion and Hollywood.

But I think most guys think curvy and hourglass figures are one and the same. It is all about breast to hip ratio with a defined waist. As long as the breasts and hips more or less equate, men will drool. I do!

Marilyn Monroe was a size 14/16, (the average size of women today), but had a fabulous breast to hip ratio that still leaves her second all time in 'sexiest' surveys. Her figure was almost perfect. The same goes for Eva Mendes, Anna Kournikova, and Monica Belucci. Breasts, slim waist, hips you want to slide your hands up and down. CURVES!

Megan Fox is ok, but not truly sexy in my eyes. Too many tattoos.

There are men who like skinny, men who like BBW's and every variance in between. But there is defintely something hugely sexy about a symmetrical, hourglass shape.

By the way, in 'sexiest' surveys, the number one answer that men give is 'my wife'.

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 March 2010):

Not only have I heard many friends say it, but I also have to say that I myself find at least some curvaceousness to be alot more attractive than skinny all by itself. To be perfectly honest, I've noticed in comparing peoples' builds, that some girls have a nice upper body, but lack in a great shaped butt, whereas others have a great ass but seemingly have to sacrifice their boobs, or lack thereof. Personally, if I had a choice between one or the other, I'm an ass man myself, feeling that a tight, round, fit-looking ass is more attractive than a mountain of tits, which are mostly just fat. I agree with strongfp about a fit body(not including any steroid enhance body, though. If they have more of a manly build than me, I feel it's a turn off). A fit build is great, though, and you feel more confidence in her maintaining that build for a long time when she's taking care of herself, like that, today.. It's also a turn off, in itself, when someone's so unhealthy that they can't have much of a youthful side if they wanted to, in any physical way. I don't know why..it must be genetics.., but for some reason very, very, very seldom will a greatly balanced body come along, top versus the bottom, where the whole package seems just as rightly curved and attractive at the same time. It must be the same for women, from their perspective? Maybe a guy has a pot-belly but thick, muscular legs..or a carved six-pack and huge arm muscles, with an under-worked ass, or funny shaped ass? I think gravity along with how people take care of themselves,..possibly greatly affected by genetics at times, has alot to do with that upper body to lower body perportioning, and how it differs so greatly from person to person. Comparing curves to no curves, though, not including obese, I feel curves win, hands down. That's just my opinion, though.. As much as I hear from others that they prefer curves over lack of curves, I think it might be true, going by other men talking, that most find it more attractive and would prefer it, but I don't feel that always impacts who they would rather be with, because you always see people of all different sizes together, so I think loving them for alot of other characteristics and who they are has ultimately as much of a significance for most as curves and attraction, physically, when it comes to overall attractiveness. They come together as one, to fulfill a happy relationship. As far as just eye candy, though, yes, curves on a mostly fit girl are usually way more attractive than a lack of curves or good build, essentially. If you're looking to have more curves or maintain the ones you already have, just exercise daily, and eat really healthy, and rest enough to keep up to the exercise. Keep enough nutrients going through your system to maintain a healthy build and keep yourself clean of toxins which help support more negative storage fat curves. Drink only water, and lots, everyday. It's more important to want to have healthy curves for yourself, though, and to maintain long-lasting health, than to strive for them because they may be more attractive to most people. I hope I answered as thoroughly as possible without giving the wrong idea that guys judge one build to another in a negative sense. As for myself, when I happen to feel attracted to someone's looks, I try to immediately look up and down them to see how much they're taking care of themselves. That's the most important thing, to me, and the positive, healthy curves are usually there, if they take care of themselves.. If you feel offended by any part of my answer, please take only the positive insight out of it, and leave out, in your mind, what might offend you.

Thanks CaringGuy and Kenj for your answers.

Thanks Strongfp for your answer.you contradicted yourself though.

"But it's the curves of a woman that men look for in the first place. If the curves are more exagerated and toned it will catch the eye of a male more, thats why a girl with somewhat large breasts and a nice behind will catch the attention of the guys more than a girl with a flat chest, and a flat bum."

But YOU still preferred a girl with athletic body. Its kind of a survey. So am looking for personal preferences.Thank you very much.

I like women for many reasons, but mainly how she carries herself. Your attitude and confidence level plays into your attractiveness. I think men out there have initial preferences but those are more the initial things that attract them. What keeps them is much deeper in a good relationship.
