After my divorce from my first wife in my early 30s, I decided to make sure that I did oral for my first girlfriend. Her orgasms and how much she liked it made me want to do it. My considered opinion is this:
1. Most men feel obliged to offer this.
2. Roughly 50% of the male population offer it early on in the relationship, but as soon as things get comfortable enough for them not to do it, they gradually reduce the frequency until it becomes a thing of the past. These men, I think, aren't really that keen on going down on women.
3. Of the remaining 50%, about 30% soldier gladly on for the duration of the relationship. They don't always find the act entirely comfortable, but it's ok, and they draw strength from the fact that it gives pleasure to their partner - so they do it pretty much willingly.
4. The last 20% are the ones who totally adore it ... they just can't get enough of pussy, in any way, shape, form or situation. They genuinely love it. They are not faking it, not doing it because they feel they should ... they are doing it as much for themselves.
Tricky to tell over a cup of coffee which category yr new guy might fall into ... good luck ; )
