Some do, some don't. Pet names can be nice, because they can show closeness. Try one on your guy and see if it works. If he doens't like it, he will probably say.

Some guys do some guys don't to be honest. I mean with my husband I have given him a myriad of pet names ranging from the "sweetpea" to "honey bunny snuggle monster." I can tell you he always laughed that the names because he is Norwegian and half the things I saw, if translated, aren't considered pet names.
If you are unsure, just ask them if they mind casually in conversation. Maybe have an interesting discussion about it. I know with my first boyfriend,(i was about 15) I called him baby and he told me he usually never liked to be called by pet names, but by me it felt comfortable. So it does just depend.

A girl I once knew called be "Rabbit" after a John Updike character. But it had nothing to do with a romantic relationship.

I loved being called hon or dear, and on top of that my last girl chose to also call me Koibito (Japanese for "beloved").
