I'm thinking of sending my boyfriend flowers for valentines day because he's at the United States Air Force Academy and I'm stuck in Vermont. Would he like that? Do guys like that? why or why not?

Well, I asked my boyfriend who's formerly in the millitary and he agrees that yes, FOOD! Always a great gift for a guy. He also said the first answer is right on except...Make sure you send enough for his buddies too. He said you'll make his day because you'll impress everybody with your thoughtfulness and the other guys will be jealous that his girl rocks so much. He'll be the man because everyone will benefit from your sweet gift. Oh, and it never hurts to add a touch of girly fragrance to the card (without contaminating the flavor of the food of course)so you fill as many senses with thoughts of you as possible. Good luck.

I'd say most guys don't like getting flowers as 1) it's kind of embarrassing since flowers are mostly for girls and 2) flowers aren't really practical or useful (he probably doesn't even have access to a vase to even keep the flowers fresh.

I am with a military man, and for our first Valentine's, he was away, so I sent him essentially a romantic care package. It had some chocolates and snacks, some pink popcorn, pictures of us together, etc. And I covered the package in pink and red kisses (he got it at work and was teased and embarrassed, but I know he secretly likes it).

So I would send him a package that shows him you're thinking of him. Maybe put in some romantic notes, a CD, some chocolates/other snacks he likes, maybe even homemade, some pictures, etc. That way he knows you miss him and care, but can actually do something with what he's getting (eat the snacks, look at your pictures, etc.).

NEVER send a guy flowers!! He should send you flowers! The best thing you can do for a guy is simply boost his ego with your words.

faenon agony auntSome guys do like flowers for its the thought that counts BUT your dating a military man and could infact cause him to be the laughing stock of his unit send a nice photo of your self and a card it doesnt have to be overly 'sexy' preferably clothed for its the thought that matters but yeah sending flowers could cause more grief for him on base with his peers.

I don't agree 100% with the first poster. Quite a lot of guys do appreciate getting flowers but it does depend very much on the guy and how well you know him. I wouldn't send flowers to a guy if he worked in the army or similar because of the 'stick' he may get. I also think sending some form of sexy photo is a bit cheap and tacky. A really nice photo and a card is quite enough - when he's back home you can show him how you feel about him.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (23 January 2011):

You'll make him look like a sissy to the other dudes. Flowers are FOR your girl, not FROM your girl.

Try sending him a sexy picture of yourself inside a simple card with a short and sweet note reminding him whats waiting for him at home. Add a box of his favorite candy or anything else you know he loves {and can survive being sent in the mail). Keep the picture classy, no crotch or bare boobs, he may show it off or lose it somewhere. Just remember he's a guy and guys don't appreciate the delicate things in life like women do. So spare yourself the lukewarm response he'll give because flowers are useless, pointless decoration. Or enjoy his praise for pretty much covering it in one shot. Happy Valentine's Day.
