I used a cardboard one and had some difficulty putting it in. When i peed it kinda stung under where i inserted the tampon. The stinging when i went to the bathroom continued for about two days. And after i took it out and put in a regular and a liner and then took that one out some time later, there was a rusty color on the liner but barely anything on the tampon. I haven't bled since. Do you think I broke it? BTW I'm a virgin and please don't give me a tampon lecture I feel like I'm gonna get one of those. I'm almost 15 and have been using them for years. And i usually put in plastics but my mom got the wrong kind and got me a big box of cardboards. I've been using the cardboards for about two cycles. Thanks!!!

What i meant by tampon lecture was someone telling me that i shouldn't have put in a super on a light day even though i was going to the beach or telling me i didn't put it in right. I know I'm still a virgin, i know about all of that. I was just wondering because it never happened to me before. Anyway, thank you!!!

I don't think you're too young to use tampons. I started using tampons two days after I got my first period, so I was about 13. I thought pads were sort of nasty. So anyway, good for you!I also agree with person12345. I think the stinging is from inserting a super-sized tampon on one of the last days of your period. You were probably too dry down there and it irritated the area. Also, don't spend any time worrying about your hymen. The idea that it's somehow important to your virginity is an overrated myth. Most girls tear their hymen long before they ever have sex, just from doing physical activities like jumping or running or horse back riding or, yes, inserting a tampon. See, the hymen is a thin membrane that stretches across the vaginal entrance. It already has a hole in it; that's why you're able to bleed out during your period. Certain activities like the ones I mentioned above will make the hole bigger or even tear some other part of the hymen, usually without you ever knowing. As a child your body can repair the hymen, but most women upon puberty lose this ability. Consider yourself lucky if you have lost this ability; you don't want to be the kind of woman whose body repairs her hymen every time it tears. The idea that the tearing of the hymen is what hurts during the first time you have sex is not exactly true. The warning is actually a self-fulfilling prophecy; girls are made to believe their first time will hurt, so during the act their vaginal muscles clamp down hard in fear and they may not lubricate. In most cases, this is what actually hurts: the cramping vaginal muscles and friction caused by the dry vaginal walls. In most women the hymen is so thin that if it has not already been torn, the tearing during sex cannot be felt. But if you are one of the unfortunate women whose body can repair the hymen, and it is a thick hymen, then you will be in a lot of pain every time you have sex. I hear this is rare, though. So anyway, hopefully you are one of the former woman. If so, don't give a hoot about your hymen; it really doesn't matter and it's more than likely already in some state of 'brokenness'. If you're one of the latter, well, that's a different issue. :)

What's a tampon lecture?
Unless you have an unusual hymen the tampon/applicator isn't large enough to break a hymen. Even if it was, it doesn't mean you're not a virgin or have any health implications or mean anything about the way the first time you have sex will feel.
The stinging was most likely from putting in a very large tampon on a day when there just wasn't enough "lubrication" from the blood. This happens to me sometimes when I put in a tampon where the cotton sticks out the top of the applicator it stings a little.

If you have been using tampons for ages anyway your chances are your hymen is broken anyway and you didnt feel it. But as for the stinging and stuff. i think maybe you put it in at a funny angle or some way irregular than what you usually do and probably hurt yourself on the inside, like a cut or something. If the stinging has stopped then it has probably healed itself. If it still stinging after say a week and you are worried about it then speak to your mum and see a doctor for safe keeping :)
