reader, anonymous, writes (26 October 2010): Perhaps you could write a paper on the irony of the descendents of migrants trying to ensure a different race of migrants don't peacefully do, what they themselves did, forcefully and through the genocide of the original inhabitants of the U.S.
It depends on what class you're doing it for, for example if you're doing it for geography then you'll need to take a different approach than you would for a history class. My above example would be for a political studies class.
A hot topic at the moment is the Mexican drug war, you could focus on the effect that has had on immigration policy or even the draconian restrictions brought in after 9/11.

 you go to a library and look up the relevant info, and then write your paper. there is not easy way, or do you expect us to do it for you.

If you're writing a term paper, I sure as hell hope it's with more care than your question.
For customs/border patrol you could talk about any number of issues. Most likely smuggling. It could be anything from drugs, to cigars, to people, to liquor, to pharmaceuticals, or any number of the things I forgot. You could talk about policy, busy borders, training officers receive... Have you even read anything about what customs officers do?

 Writing term paper I utilized the school library and looked up my topic through their research database....also got at least 3 books to read through as well. Go to your school or local library and ask your friendly librarian to help you research your topic. Border control and customs? You're probably going to have to be more specific as in the location or country you're targeting.
