A female reader, xNessa11x United States +, writes (3 February 2011):

Sigh* alright here's the thing. Your period coems from the blood lining of your uterus, which is completely seperate from your vagina where your orgasm takes place. You CAN get pregnant if you have sex before your first period, so I say watch out to you and to the other youngsters *cough 13 yr old on here?!* cough* out there. I wouldn't worry about not having your period yet. We JUST talked about this in my psychology class today that girls who mature first are generally more trobulesome and whatnot. If you don't have your period by the time you're 16 or 17 I would see a doctor because your hormones could be unbalanced, but for now just don't worry about it! They say that stress can cause your body to hold off on ovulation and your period, which is why women who constantly try to conceive usually don't make a baby until they stop trying and stop focusing on it... So don't worry! You're not missing out on anything! Just focus on you and when you do decide to have sex, period or no period, use protection!

PS, and orgasm actually helps your body to pull in sperm, the throbbing actually helps the sperm move inside you and gets your cervix closer to any semen, so....1) don't let any man go inside you unless you're ready for a baby and 2) if he does then stop what you're doing, don't orgasm, slap the guy and go buy the plan B pill for about 50 bucks cuz ur gonna get knocked up lol

14 is too young to start having unprotected sex. You have a lot of other things to sort out in your life without finding out that you are pregnant. Get out and live a bit first and use a CONDOM wether you have a period or not.

Hi there :)

you really shouldn't worry so much. Everyone is different. You can start having your period between 11 and 16.

And about the orgasm. It's really an interesting question. I think it shouldn't have anything to do with your period. But recently the most curious thing happened to me. I usually had 21 to 23 days between two periods (and my periods aren't that long - mostly exactly 4 days). But after I've been having orgasms more frequently (I've been spending much more time with my bf) there are exactly 28 days between two periods.

I'm not sure if that is the real reason for the changing but more orgasms may have a regulative function.

Maybe this is too far-fetched. I don't know. But then again, I've had my period for 7 years now. It always takes some time (even years) to adjust itself properly. And it depends very much on hormones, stress, eating habits (once I had lost very much weight and didn't have my period for 3 months), sports activity, etc.

In any case, you are normal. I got my period just before my 15th birthday. :) I hope this helped.

Lol at all the replies so far.

Yeah, they tought us about periods in about year six when i was 11 and then I spent the next few years desperately waiting for mine to start!

...Then I got it...I'm telling you, it's the most annoying thing EVER. Be gratful you start late and if you're lucky you might end early too. It's quite daunting to know i might have to put up with this for the next 35 (roughly) years of my life (I'm 15)

It'll come soon and you'll look back on the days before with fondness.

A female reader, SugarCookie United States +, writes (28 May 2009):

Orgasms have to do with vaginal wall contraction, while your period has to do with ovulation of the ovaries. Orgasm will not help that. As far as everyone else s post they are right enjoy that you don't have you period and don't actually stress until you are 16 there are quite a few people that do not start until then.

pebble agony auntEnjoy it while it lasts! You'll wish you didn't have it when it arrives and realise how rubbish they actually are.

You're fine though, I started mine five months before I turned 15. It can take up until 16 or even over for some girls.

But seriously, you'll get them soon enough. And then you'll spend the next 40 years wishing they'd go away lol. Good luck sweetie :)

I don't think so girlfriend. Your body knows what its doing and if you could do a thing like.. have an orgasm and completely change its course of nature, then it would not be the typical body that we know and love.

Don't worry about it for now. If you haven't gotten it by the middle of high school then look into it, but at your age it's not such a big deal. I knew girls in 3rd grade who had it. I got mine in 8th. We're all different so pay no attention to your friends'.

Hi i have two things to say

1. You dont WANT your period !!! I know that sounds dumb but all those friends that have it dont they complain about how gross and painful it is???? If you are only 14 i would just consider it lucky!!! Which brings me to my second point........

2.dont wprry about it yet i would wait until you are 16 and if you havent had your period by then i would go and see a doctor.... No matter how embarassing

Hope this helps!!!:):):) (L)
