Hun... sorry got to have a say here... I have to say that sometimes the drs are very quick to circumsize when all that is needed is some education on how to keep the penis nice and clean.
It is a drastic move to have a circumcision at your age and its gonna hurt a lot... why have it done if it is not completely and utterly necessary??
Please rather go for a second opinion as a uti infection is not enough of a reason for circumcision.......
What needs to be investigated is WHY you got the uti....

I agree with duce. You can't put it back on. I would say though you shouldn't buy into the stigma surrounding circumcision when people say that it's a matter of good hygiene and appearance. If men were better off without a foreskin to begin with, they might not have them. I'd really suggest finding an alternative, and only consider circumcision as a last resort (if this issue reoccurs again and again and again). While your doctor may err on the side of caution, the infection may be a one time deal.
I'd like to qualify, of course, your doctor is a doctor and I'm not. ;) Ultimately base your decisions on research, medical opinion (perhaps a second opinion would be healthy?) and your own best judgement. Goodluck, hope you feel better!

I did some homework and I strongly suggest you do the same!
This is a totally new subject for me and I am circumcised from birth and never really considered all the ramifications. Almost seems like there is an advantage to being uncircumcised.
I would say that you should not do this procedure so quickly and do a whole lot more research. What I discovered is that there are a lot of setbacks to getting circumcised so late in life with regards to sensation. Your urinary tract infection is most likely a matter of you needing to wash in a different manor. Consider a cycle of antibiotics while you figure all this out.
Take a look at this site and google a lot more before you agree to this. After all, you cant put it back on.

Circumcision was performed on me as a baby, so I do not quite qualify to answer your questions except to say that urinary tract infections are very rare to a circumcised male. For what it's worth, girls seem to prefer the look and good hygiene is apparently much less of a problem.
