As long as you have a credit card you can buy what you want. I guess they assume that if you have a credit card your legal.
They usually send the items in plain unremarkable wrapping and will bill the credit card with an unassuming name. If they didn't they would probably loose a lot of their customers. nobody wants to be put on blast for the whole postal service to see. Check the website most will say how they ship on there.

You'll have to purchase it under their name though I'm pretty sure (though not certain) that you have to be 18 to have a credit card, so beyond that I don't think they will check. It will be on that persons credit card bill though, so make sure they know and don't mind.
Another option might be to browse for one online, read some user reviews (find a good impartial site for reviews) once you have one selected that you'd like to buy, you could just phone your local sex shops to see if they stock it. If they do then you could ask your friend to go in and purchase it for you.
