If I were to skip taking my placebo birth control week and start right away with the next pack... would that a) cause me to skip my period and b) not cause any serious side effects or be extremely unhealthy???mind you i've never done this before, and have no intention of doing this again, it's just that I find it extremely annoying that on the same day that I basically arrive in mexico I am expected to enjoy my entire vacation (in swim suits) with my period.please any feedback is welcome.

Yes, you can do this with the desired result of not having a period that week. I take several packs in a row due to menstrual migraines...the less often I have a period the less often I will get those related headaches. This is done on the advice of my dr, and I've not suffered any problems from it. You should not have any side effects, nor is it unhealthy.

Call your prescribing physician's office (I assume it's your gynecologist) and ask this question. I believe women do this all the time but it would be foolish of you to mess with your medication without knowing what the potential risks would be. Or read the package insert for guidance.
There should be a nurse or physician's assistant at the doctor's office who can answer this question for you if the doctor is not available.
Have fun in Mexico!
