Within the past 2 days he's said it 3 times. what does that really mean coming from a guy? He's never said that to me before. We've been dating for 9 months almost 10. Reply to this Question Share |

I agree with other posters in that this is a huge compliment, esp from a man.

Of course it means you're so great that he needs to keep you, as opposed to lose you.
Not to ruin this bubbly thread or hurt your feelings, but the fact that he's said this thrice in such proximity might mean that he's trying to convince himself of something. Maybe he doesn't feel it and just reminds himself that he ought to be with you because you have everything on the "list." I dunno.

HUGE PRAISE... it's actually my nickname for my spouse and he has a bracelet that has KEEPER engraved on it that i got him as a gift.
A KEEPER is someone you plan to spend a lot of time with it means you want to KEEP them as your partner.

"She's a keeper" is high praise. It traces back to fishing.... wherein there are limits on the size of the fish one may "keep" (smaller ones must be thrown back). However, it's evolution is NO LONGER reference to size (like the fish), but, instead, to the concept that one would keep - and maybe show off - the fine catch...
P.S. What's the opposite? In my family it's: "She's a piece of work."
Good luck....
P.S. Is your guy friend a "keeper?"

Ask HIM what he means by it. Trust me, it's a good thing!

I think it's a pretty high praise. A keeper is someone you want to be with LONG term.

He's using the expression this regularly and suddenly because someone has asked him about you using the same phrase. It's made him think about it seriously and he's come to the conclusion that he wants long term with you.
Its a crap expression though! It might even have been his boss who put the phrase into his vocabulary, she may have been asking him, to find out where he is in his life maturity wise with a view to his career prospects

It simply means you are a great girlfriend, and you may be the one he wants to marry someday. He thinks you are so great he wants to show you off, talk to other about you and so on.
So whatever you are doing, keep doing it.
