Anyway, I'm 13 years old and I'm getting put on Birth Control next week. I was wanting the shot but my parents told me It would make me gain weight which made me change my mind and want to get the pills. But, the thing is, my mother told me that when she was on the pills, she still got pregnant. My parents think I only need the pills for pains, and heavy periods but honestly, I've been sexually active with my boyfriend and need these pills for protection. Any advice on whether I should get the pills or shot or..what? Help? Thanks:)

Your mum clearly was doing something wrong when she took the pill if she got pregnant - basically it is as effective as the shot (I think most forms of birth control are around 99% effective but check with your doctor) as long as you take it properly i.e. you take it at the same time every day, dont miss any pill, are not taking anti-biotics and also you cant throw up or have dihorrea (the pill will leave your system if either of these occur).
So as you can see, with the pill it is just as effective as the shot however you have to be very careful with it otherwise due to human error (i.e. a mistake on your part) you could accidentally get pregnant. So the shot is an easier option if you think you are likely to forget to take your pill etc. So this is up to you - personally I prefer the pill and have no problems remembering to take it at the same time each day but thats just me!
With regards to the weight gain issue, this is an ongoing debate where some people belive all forms of birth control means you will put on weight, whereas others think it is just a myth! All forms of birth control come with a side effects warning, and one of those side effects is possible weight gain. So whether you take the pill or have the shot, there is still a chance you could put on weight.
However how much weight will depend on your body - everyone reacts differently to birth control. I have some friends that put on 28lbs, whereas some other friends stayed the exact same weight. Me personally, I put on weight around the time I started taking the pill. However recently, I came off the pill for a while and lost no weight at all so I now think that maybe it was all in my head and I put weight on for a different reason but just blamed the pill at the time.
You need to talk to your doctor about this - he or she will be able to go through each of your options and help you decide what will best for you. I think at your age, the shot will be the best but make sure you chat things through with your doctor before you make your decision.
I hope this helps!

It can lead to alot of complication's kidney, liver, they can mess them up. If it's the only option get the shot. I'm not so sure of how big the needle is but if your willing maybe it's the best option.

There are different side affects from birth control pills. You can opt for the one that best suits your body reaction. Ask your doctor about it. I have tried few birth controls from pills and shot. I find the shot more convenient cos I sometimes miss taking the pills.
If you worry about gain weight then I guess it is normal for women to gain weight while taking pills though. But it also depends on how your body would respond to it. Anyway, condoms are still okay to use as a protection.
But I still think abstinence during your unsafe period is best to avoid getting pregnant though. If you must! :)

With ALL forms of birth control, there are possible weight gain side effects. Usually less that 10 pounds. Its water retention, and usually passes after about 3 months. The water weight is usually unnoticed.
I would never ever recommend the pill to a teenage. There are so many ways the pill can be messed up. Missing a pill, taking them at the wrong time, being on antibiotics. All resulting in the pill not working. I would strongly suggest the shot. Its one shot every 3 months, simple as that. No way to mess that!
Point being, all forms of birth control have the possible side effect of water weight. Not all women get this. But try a more fool proof form of birth control...like the shot.
