I'm applying for a job in a Pet Shop, and the question is to describe yourself as a pet, what would you would be and why!. I guess i need to think about my personality, and then think about what kind of pet has that personality. I am friendly, calm, sociable, curious, helpful, good company... I was thinking of choosing a cat lol, but do you think that is suitable, or can you think of another pet i could describe myself as?. Lol thanks. Reply to this Question Share |

I was going to say a labrador retriever as well. I would stay away from saying cat as they are generally not thought of as liking others, liking people, being friendly, or any of the other things you'd want in an employee. Of course there are exceptions (my friend has a very sweet friendly cat) but you don't want them to think of the stereotype of aloof and selfish. I would include your reasons why as well even if doesn't ask for it specifically. Like, I am a labrador retriever because I'm helpful, friendly, energetic, and work well with others etc...

Say you're a hyena because you like to laugh all the time. That's an unusual answer that will leave people cracking up. Nice icebreaker.

Actually, I'd pick a more unusual animal/pet than a dog. The dog is so common. You want to stand out as unique, although in a good way. You want to be interesting to work with, not boring.
A rabbit: sociable and productive.
A tarantella: goal oriented and efficient.
A rat: intelligent and adjustable (also curious and social creatures).
Pick something original and yet interesting.

They even adopt similar personality traits as a family member. I'd say Cats have more of an introverted nature over the social/extraverted nature most dogs seem to be. Introverts are introspective as well as have high moral compasses and have a very rich inner life. Creative. Imaginative. The current Cat I own was for my son who has Aspergers. Kitty will play cars with my son, even lay on his belly and push the cars around just as my son does. He sits beside my son and eats snow with my son as well as will play in some dirt my son is playing in a bin. He does what my son does, push the dirt around and paw at it and even roll his head in the bin as my son puts dirt on his head. They will play chase one another all up and down the stairs. If Kitty goes on my furniture I just have to say SAGE NO! And he will stop. He can say Ouu for outside and recognizes the word outside. He says mum for my teen when he wants in her room. He knows Down, Get, And even Go See Your Mom (my one teen). He knows to not scratch at my furniture. He's not as needy as a dog is for attention/affection.I just dont think people realize just how intelligent cats are let alone take the time and effort to train them. I had one Cat that would not go into my flower bed and would chase other cats from my flower bed.Just depends on your perspective.

Lol, what a fitting question for a pet shop. Well what do you personally think? Say dolphin, just for the heck of it. Because you're intelligent and yet willing to jump through loops? With your own description of yourself though I'd go with a Golden Retriever.

Labrador retriever is the best you can pick for obvious reasons. Not only are they similar to your personality type but they're working dogs, they're also the most used guide dog, check them out on wiki. Cats scream independence, snotty and not getting on well with other cats on their turf. Not a good idea and forgive me but it's also a very generic female sounding one. Indeed there are lots of things that equate cats to bitchy women, claws, catfight etc. You don't want to associate yourself with that. The thing with picking a dog is you do need to state a breed, they're all very different. It would show you took the time to really think about which animal describes you best. Plus everyone knows labradors, we all see them as guide dogs and most of us know at least one person who has one. They're literally one of the best working dogs you can get, extremely intelligent, very docile, love company, very adaptable, clam under pressure and easily trained.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labrador_Retriever#Use_as_working_dogsNewfoundlands are awesome but labs are easier to show all the qualities you want to show.

I agree - a dog. Cats aren't loyal. Dogs are. You sound loyal.

the question is also about your suitability for the job. So here goes:Your personality is a Meer-cat (wikipedia it) - and include a picture of an alert Meer-cat in your applicationAs a Meer-cat you are alert, a team player, enthusiastic. You are good at strategic thinking and prioritizing. You are also very caring towards the baby Meer-cats. You are also tidy and good at planning to ensure your work area is kept in good order. These are all things that Meer-cats behave.

sounds like a newfoundland dog to me... I don't think of cats as friendly because they tend to be aloof...dogs on the other hand are your best buddies even if you just walked to the mailbox and back they greet you like they haven't seen you in forever... "hi hi OH HI!!!!!"
