When I was in middle school, I absolutely hated it, and if you are one of those girls, there's no need to hate your body or your height!I have found that many young tall girls are very self conscious about their height. Many of us have a hard time finding long enough jeans, and whatnot. No worries! There are many places you can get extra long pants. I actually get all of my jeans on Alloy.com. They are great, they offer longer seams. I recomend them!As I have experianced, when your a young, tall girl, it sucks! But when you get older, it's not so bad. Even if you are older and a tall women and you hate it, DON'T! I get allll the time, "God, your'e so tall and lucky!" "I would KILL to be your height!" "You could be a model!" Now who doesn't like compliments like that? Also, us tall girls are rare to find! My boyfriend loves my height and always makes me feel so good about it. I think many girls think that guys wont like them because of their height. Nope! A lot of guys lovvvve it, you'd be suprised! So to all those girls who are uncomfortable or self conscious about your height, just remember , most girls would kill to be your height, and if they deny or tease you about it, psh, who cares! Their just gelous! Plus, being tall helps alot around the house! Haha.Good luck girls and hold your head of high, and walk with those long legs! Reply to this Article Share |

I used to hate it too...in fact, sometimes it still get's on my nerves. I am 24 and 5'10, been that tall since about 5th-6th grade. I can only find one pair of pants if I'm lucky in the winter time and well, being pregnant now for the 2nd time, the lack of clothing is killin me. I'm bout to be doing the whole sweatpants trick again (She smiles). But other then that, it does have it's perks. I get a lot of looks and compliments as well, especially because my hair is almost as "long" as I am, it's passed my booty :-) So yeah, I was never really insecure about it, just hated shopping and that REALLY cute guy that was waaaaaaaay shorter then me. Regardless, I love me and God for making me the way I am. Shot out to all the tall, beautiful women in the world, were a rare breed :-)

hey im 11, yes my thing sayz im 13 but shhhh, lol. Im 5'6, im a whole head taller then all my friends {im in 6 grade} and i feel so odd. when we go to the mall oldr guys check me out and whistle, i dont dislike it:)lol but its just wierd because you can tell that they are around 13-17 age. everyone sayz im so beautiful and i should be a model. This article helped alot, especially coming from a fellow "tall citizen" because its better if you truly know what it is like, i was wearing boots with a heel the other day at school and i was 5'8, 3 i repeat 3 8th graders asked me my name and how old i was, so i guess your right, i never thought of it that way, i always thought they just wanted to make fun of me or something. thnx again!!

I used to absolutely loathe my height (among other things like weight, appearance), I felt ungraceful and unfeminine, most of my friends have always been little and dainty and I just felt like a giant all through highschool and when I first started college. But gradually I began to realise that I can be myself and its not something to be embarrassed about. I'm tall, I'm curvy and why shouldn't I wear high heels if I want to? Who cares if I'm at least a head taller than most people when I go to clubs? Now I'm at uni and I've almost completely come to terms with my height, even though I wear heels most of the time now I do still feel a bit self conscious sometimes. It helps that my boyfriend is 6'4!!
What I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't let the little (or tall) things get to us, being tall is just the way we were made and its a part of who we are. The more I accept that, the happier it makes me.

Hey, how's the weather up there? No, seriously, a nice little article to boost up those tall girls who are feeling low. (I'm just full of pun like these, I can stop anytime I want. Yeah, right.)
I'm on the shorter end of the spectrum, and I can second this article. I played a lot of team sports and in most of them, being tall was a serious advantage. Volleyball, basketball, running. The only one that wasn't so great was softball, as a tall girl has a much larger strike zone. (I was a pitcher and I HATED facing a really short batter.)
I think lots of girls go through a phase where they hate all their flaws, and focus only on those, not realizing that their good points far exceed and outweigh their bad ones.
And as I've grown older too, I really regret wasting my time worrying about my appearance as much as I did, tearing myself down for overly large thighs or whatever minor flaw caught my insecure eye that week. Now, when I look back on pictures from those days, I wonder what on earth I was doing beating myself up. I looked great! I try to keep that in mind, so that when I'm in my 60s and look back on this time period, I'll recognize the same dynamic.
So hear hear, tall girls! Show off your strength, your length. And everyone, keep your body healthy and your natural beauty will shine through the most severe physical anomalies.
Thanks for the article!
