so...I have a question for the boys here, today I stumbled across this "Girls are like apples in a tree" quote and it got me thinking, are girls really like apples in a tree??

is the whole "the greatest apples are at the top of the tree...(translation, the really great girls are at the top of the tree thinking there's something wrong with them cos guys don't ask them out of whatever, while other girls do when reality is guys don't feel good enough for them until someone strong enough to climb the tree reaches her and blah blah blah, I'm not really sure of how it goes) anyway, is it true? what do you guys think?

Jmtmj agony auntDepends on your perspective... what makes the "greatest apples", the GREATEST? Is it looks? Personality? Both?

I looked up the phrase and it seems to be interpreted roughly the same. That boys pick the easy, (sometimes rotten) apples at the bottom of the tree because they're too lazy/scared to climb to the top to get the DAA DA DA DAAA!!! GREATEST APPLES!! The greatest apples should supposedly just wait around for the right guy to step up to the challenge and not be disheartened that they're not getting any attention.

Its a load of crap if you ask me.

If the greatest apple really was the greatest apple, would it really just sit around in a lonely obscure out of reach place just waiting to be picked...? Just waiting and waiting... just watching potential "right guys" simply walk past whilst they did nothing...?

Or when it saw the right guy walking down below, make itself known by targeting him, throwing caution to the wind and pulling a maneuver best known as an "Isaac Newton".

A male reader, Wheeler United States +, writes (30 June 2011):

Wheeler agony auntHmmm...I don't know. There is also the chance that the apples at the top of the tree will be rotten by the time anyone gets to them. This would relate to the Old Spinner idea maybe?

Also, the stronger branches are at the bottom of the tree, providing more stability and nourishment.

And the higher you climb in a tree the more chance you can get hurt, or will fall further if you slip.

And what does this mean for disabled men? They are somehow not worthy of good apples?

But what if they have one of those grabber things? Then they could reach way up high even from the ground?

Just kidding. I get a kick out of some of these sayings!

There is some truth to the idea that really attractive women don't get asked out as much because men are afraid to get rejected. This seems to kinda fit the saying.

It is also similar to the saying, "good things come to those who wait".

Having never heard this saying, I really can't offer much more. To be honest, I don't really understand the entire saying at all, maybe you could clarify?
