Are blow jobs now an expected part of making out?

A male United States age , *dell writes:

I read recently that kids as young as 11 and 12 no longer "make out" by just kissing, hugging and caressing, but that many boys also expect their girlfriends to give them blow jobs. In other words, oral sex among the young is getting to be pretty usual. Is this true? What has been your experience regarding this?

LazyGuy agony auntThese things have always gone on. Just that the media want to sell us headlines and the headline "A small number of kids still doing stupid things, just they always done" doesn't sell.

Try the "kids killed when they dived from a bridge" headline. Every summer some idiot does it and if it happen 2 times it is a sign of the times.

It is a growing thing, girls giving boys blow jobs at 11 and 12, and they even have parties where they do this, in my day they were make out parties, and no one knew what a blow job was.

The theory is that young girls are now pressured into feeling a false sense of power and control over boys and that is the reason they do it....sad thing is the boys then think the girls who do are worthless and they lose respect for them rather quickly and the girls get a reputation. It is a pretty sad phenomenon and I know it was happening a lot in Texas for one, or in more metropolitan area where kids are over indulged a lot by their parents and at the same time not being parented by overworked parents.

I hate to think that girls are losing their innocence at such a young age because it causes emotional problems, behavior problems, plumetting grades, greater incidence of children having children. Our media over sexualizes children, they are trying to tone it down over a few years ago, but there is so much these days that tell girls their only value is their sexuality....it is sad.

A reader, anonymous, writes (10 July 2009):

I have a little brother who's 12. Hes interested in girls sure, and hes even had a few girlfriends who he has kissed, but the idea of putting his tongue in a girls mouth (i.e. making out) he says is 'disgusting'. I asked him does that mean he'll never do it, and he says he will, but not until hes older. As for blowjobs, I don't think he or any of his friends even know what the word means. For the most part, they prefer playing football and saying women on tv are hot to dealing with real girls, so I definately dont think that 12 year olds giving each other oral is a widespread thing, although i'm sure it happens occasionally.

betty_black agony auntI think the blame always seems to lie with the parents, but i disagree. As a parent you dont expect your child to be thinking about sex, drugs and alcohol at such a young age as 12 and feel no need to teach them about it. I blame the media, making it look as though its cool. I know that at that age i was doing nothing of the sort, it wasnt something kids did, and it should still be that way.

11 or 12?!? Holy...I don't think I even knew what oral sex was back then and that was only like 13 years ago! I think once I got into junior high, around 8th grade--that's when I started hearing those stories. So I didn't hear about anybody doing that stuff until about the 14-15 year old age range. If it's different now, then there's a serious problem. Parents are teaching their kids too much or not enough.

Well I think that kids are experimenting younger and younger that's why there shows called 16 and pregnant. Honestly I believe that it depends on what the guy expects and girls what to please their bfs.I think that parents are oblivous to what their children do. I wouldn't want my 5th or 6th grader giving bjs their so young. Its a shame that its happening so young. I know I took a vow to myself that I was going to keep my virginity until I was an adult. 18 is still young to lose it but your an adult!!!! I wouldn't give a bj as part of making out. But I have to say if I give him a bj he better be willing to return the favor which I don't think most men do!

A female reader, betty_black United Kingdom +, writes (10 July 2009):

betty_black agony auntNO blow jobs are not a part of making out. Blow jobs are what is classed as third base i believe? Oral sex is not as innocent as kissing and cuddling like 12 year olds should purely be doing. Hell at that age i wasnt even thinking about sex, the world was still ponies and fairytales for me! Thats not normal at all. no.
