A female reader, justarry United States +, writes (12 May 2008):

Okay, dictionary definitions are confusing more than anything else. I have the same question. I'm confused because it was my first time : His penis was in me a little but i'd like to know whether this was "sexual intercourse." Is it truly sex, if it did not go all the way in? is this similar to what it will feel like if it goes all the way in? Yes, I am aware his penis was in my vagina. I"m more interested in knowing whether this really defines losing virginity? even with just the head going in? (please do not mention the breaking of the hymen as it could be broken even be4 sex) Thanks.

You say it wouldn't go in - but you also say he was inside you... ??

I would say if you tried to have sex and got as far as you did, you can't say you are a true virgin any more.

But I think next time it will go much better, as you will be more relaxed, so I would try and remember that one as your first time.

Make sure you are really turned on and have lots of foreplay.

Good Luck!! xx

A male reader, polarkite United States +, writes (11 April 2008):

polarkite agony auntLet's go to the dictionary.

Virgin

–noun

1. a person who has never had sexual intercourse.

sexual intercourse

–noun

1. genital contact, esp. the insertion of the penis into the vagina followed by orgasm; coitus; copulation.

I would say that you are a virgin, as trying to have sex is not having sex. At least one of you needs to get off, for it to truly be sex.
