A female reader, pebble United Kingdom +, writes (16 June 2009):

pebble agony auntSlow down. You do not get pregnancy symptoms a week after sex. It's far too soon. I don't know what those symptoms are but they are NOT symptoms of pregnancy.

You had protected sex. And your period is late but it's always irregular anyway. You're being a bit dramatic I think.

It's far too soon to do a pregnancy test or a doctor's test. And you can't rely on your period to give you an answer because it's irregular so the only thing you can do it wait 2-3 weeks and do a test if your period does not arrive in that time.

But sweetheart, if you're having all these worries about pregnancy even though you're having PROTECTED sex then you're not ready to be having sex at all. Don't you see that talking about getting an abortion a week after sex when you don't even know if you're pregnant is a bit silly? There's nothing here that suggests you're pregnant anyway.

Get yourself on the contraceptive pill. It will back up your first method of protection (I'm guessing condoms?) and will regulate your periods aswell.

But please, stop having sex until you are able to deal with the consequences. You're going to worry yourself sick!

Good luck.

A female reader, meg2989 United States +, writes (16 June 2009):

meg2989 agony auntWell I doubt that you are pregnant and heres my reasoning. When you concieve a baby its concieved in your phillopean tubes. The egg does not drop until two weeks after conception and its only been one week if even that. Sometimes your body can play tricks on you especially when you are worried your pregnant it will give you nausea and can even delay your period. You can buy a pregnancy test. However those do not detect the hormone that signifys pregnancy until 4 weeks ( after conception) so you would have to take the test july 8th because right now its too soon to tell. Good luck honey and all the best wishes to you.

A reader, anonymous, writes (16 June 2009):

First, I suspect you're worried waaay too soon -- I think it highly unlikely you'd have any symptoms in just one week.

Buy yourself a home pregnancy test. Just go to a big chain like Shoppers -- no one will pay any attention to you, let alone judge you. If you're really concerned, go to one that's not near either your home or school, so you don't bump into someone you know at the checkout.

If the test is positive (which is unlikely, since you did use protection, and your periods aren't that regular to begin with), you can contact Planned Parenthood. They can give you all the abortion information you need, and you can remain anonymous.

Calm down -- you haven't yet got any reason to worry.

love-struckxo agony auntIf you were pregnant, you probably wouldn't get symptons this early. I suggest you wait a couple weeks and then take a test.

Take care
