You are not going to be 2nd best, post him back to his ex girlfriend with a complimentary ticket , saying "not good enough/ 2nd hand goods unacceptable".
It reminds of a Chinese proverb: "one more good man on eart is better than an extra angel in heaven".
Well there are still some good guys on earth, go and get one that will care for you and treat you with respect.

 I would end it. You woudlnt feel the same about that person anymore. How could you stay with someone who was just about to easily throw you away like that?
They obviously dont love you or care about you as much as you think if there prepared to give you up for an ex.
If my boyfriend told me that he ws thinking about dumping me for another girl but changed his mind, i wouldnt stick with him at all. Id say bye bye.
