writes: hi i know this isnt really a relationship question but i have gotten good advice from this site in the past and thought i would try it for this question.basically for halloween i want to dress up as Blade the vampire hunter, which in itself should be fine, but he is black and i myself am white. ideally id like to use brown facepaint to make parts of my body that are on show brown.its not intended to be racist, as the character Blade is black, and if i did him as white people wouldnt get it. the same way the incredible hulk is green, and if you didnt go green you wouldnt be the incredible hulk.i was just wondering would people find this offensive if i went dressed as this on halloween?thanks for your advice in advance Reply to this Question Share |

I would avoid any "slang" type talk or obvious stereotypical "black" behavior--even as a joke. Just be the character; Blade, Hulk.. whatever. Have fun and be safe :)

Personally, I'd say go for it. But then I'm past all this racist stuff. A lot of other people aren't and there's bound to be one or two people who think you're a 'racist'. It's up to you, really. If you're up for taking a risk, I'd say go for it. I don't think there's anything racist in what you're doing at all. It's just a costume party.
