Worried that my friend will change more than her clothes!!

Question - (22 April 2007) 2 Answers - (Newest, 22 April 2007)
A female United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

My friend has always had her own style, and she's used her figure to her advantage. (She's got super skinny legs, and then a large belly).

But recently she's been copying of another girl we know, buying all the same clothes as she has, and whilst this girl is very pretty and stylish, the clothes don't really suit my friend.

I feel like she's trying to become this girl, who despite being asthetic, she's a horrible person.

I'm worried that my friend will change more than just her clothes.

What should I do?

TasteofIndia agony auntMaybe all go shopping together and find her things that would look really great on HER figure. Or, go pick up a fashion magazine with suggestions of clothes that flatter figures (seventeen, cosmo, teen often have articles like this), and go over it together.

Pick her out something that'll look great on her and suit her wonderfully. Help her help herself!

A male reader, kenny United Kingdom +, writes (22 April 2007):

kenny agony auntUnfortunately we can't change people, or what they become. Your friend obviously admires this other girl and wants to dress like her. But just because she is copying her fashion does not mean she will change her personality as well.

All you can really do is be a friend to her and tell her how you feel in a subtle kind of way, if you come on too strong you will risk pushing her away.

Good luck x
