 Does he know you still talk with your exes? Sometimes, when relationships tend to be past relationships both parties either still keep in contact or not. Some have better conversations now than before. It happens. With your current relationship, maybe find something more worth talking about. Talk to him about how you feel. One of the keys to a relationship is communication. Good luck! I hope you find what you're looking for.

He may be shy on the phone. That doesn't mean that he's not great in person or that you can't have tons of fun with him. Maybe he's just not a phone guy - I know my fella is absolutely TERRIBLE on the phone, but in person? I love talking with him.
Maybe you guys don't have a lot in common, or at least not as much as you had with your exes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing! It just means that you have more to learn from each other. Dating someone who is a carbon copy of you gets really boring really fast. Dating someone who has different interests can open you up to a whole new world of awesome stuff.
When you guys go out, do random things, go on exciting dates and soon you'll be building up conversation material no problem!! Good luck!
