So heres the situation:

me[im male 18] and my best freind [female19] both virgins.

best freinds for 4 years before we dated.

been going out for nearly a year now.

We are both close to ready to having sex.

I want to do what i need to make this relationship last, we are deeply attached due to freindship and if the relationship failed well it would screw us both up, as we would lose such a close mate.

SO MY QUESTION IS.......

Do you think....... Sex can negatively effect a relationship? specially since we are still virgins too

what are the pros/cons.

DoubleM agony auntIn my experience, for what it may be worth, sex is or can be the glue that binds your relationship as long as it is loving and meaningful. My women have always been my best friends, and learning to satisfy each other sexually was one of the best things about it. And to all my detractors here, most of my relationships in life were long lasting, one for 20 years, and always monogamous.

It depends how you truly see her. Yes, she is your girlfriend, but you said you had a deep friendship and that's how you were attached. Decide whether you love her as a best friend, or as a girlfriend.

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (27 December 2009):

If you want her to be your best friend forever then yes, sex will ruin everything.

If you want her to be your girlfriend, then sex will stop her from leaving you.

Being a boyfriend means you want to have sex with your girlfriend.

If sex seems like a dangerous option to you then you may want to question whether you are in love or just love her as a friend.

Good Luck!! xx
