your brother has never had his water break. The only pain is from contractions. Sometimes the doctor has to puncture the bag to facilitate labor. Your doctor will verify your brother doesn't have a clue.

im_a_dummy is verified as being by the original poster of the questionmy brother said it kind of hurts, almost as if someone stabed you with a knife and as soon as its out it stops hurting and idk if he is just scaring me but im freaking out, and i dont wanna talk to anyone about it.... and he would know cuz he has a son.

You'll know. Either you'll feel this water running down your legs (and realize you didn't pee on yourself) or you'll wake up in a very wet spot (and think you wet the bed). Trust me, you'll know, it doesn't hurt, it just gushing out - can't hold it in dear.

You will definitely know. I was always worried about taking a bath or shower or something and not know if my water broke. Well I ended up having to have my pregnancy induced, when the nurse went to give me another pill she accidently broke my water, it was like wetting the bed with a gallon of water. It feels a little funny too, can't really explain it better than that. In the end you will know when it breaks....good luck! and congrads on the baby!
