A female Ireland age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hi. I am confused by my boyfriend of five months who avoids the elusive : "I Love you" words. He phones and texts me four times day we see each other every day and he is loving and affectionate. The trouble is I would love to know what he really feels inside... he said that "I was under his skin" and "big in his life" but I don't want to push him to say what he might not really mean. I feel I have fallen in love with him. advice would be appreciated ...

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (5 November 2009):

Guys can take their time saying 'I love you'. It's a very big step and when we say it, it really opens us up and brings out the 'vulnerable side' that we're not all happy about showing until we're well ready. All I can say is that he sounds like he loves you, and as long as he is SHOWING it (which is more important than saying it), then let nature take its course and when he feels as though he can say it, he will. You are right not to push him into it, but let him show you he loves you, and when he's ready, he'll say it too.
