They are planning to tell him in Monday. Since my boss quit it is just me as an employee and three owners. It makes me a little nervous. Why would they tell me such confidential information?

It could be that they trust you, they like your work ethics and dont want you to leave, or as honeypie says its a test to see what you will do, or even some sort of combination of things.
I had this happen to me once on a job. I was hired and before I even started working the manager told me that he was lining me up to take the place of the girl that was going to train me. He didn't like her or the way that she worked and he was planning on getting rid of her. I couldn't believe he was telling me that on my first day. I felt terrible because the girl was really nice to me and very helpful. It turned out that she wanted out of that dept and thank God she transferred to another dept about a week after I started so he never had the chance to fire her. I desperately needed the job so I knew I had to keep my mouth shut..it was so awful. I certainly didn't want to be promoted because of someone being fired so I was so relieved when things all worked out ok. Later that manager got fired himself because of the horrible way he ran things! Karma...
I'd just lay low and wait and see what happens. Hope it all works out for you.

Maybe it's a test to see if you give him a heads up this weekend.
