A female reader, Nime United States +, writes (7 April 2011):

Nime agony auntIt could be part of your natural aging process. In the mid twenties most people's faces will appear to elongate and thin out.

There are many, many naturally occurring partitions of fat under and over the facial muscles. These fat partitions are part of what make a child's face round and childlike. As we get older we lose some of these fat partitions as part of the aging process. Think of a middle aged woman who's had all the botox and face-lifts and anti-aging treatments money can buy. Most of us can still instantly recognize such a woman as middle-aged, despite the perfectly smooth skin and even if we are looking at her in a photo where she is doctored and airbrushed. This is because fat partitions in the face play a huge role in making a face look the age it is, and currently there is no decent plastic surgery one can have to restore these partitions.

In the mid-twenties we rapidly lose a lot of facial fat partitions. Some lose them more rapidly than others, some more slowly. Your face may just be undergoing this process at a more rapid pace, your genetic pace. If you don't think this could be it, however, you should start keeping an eye on your weight to make sure.

So_Very_Confused agony auntif you were dieting to lose weight that's where you lost it from your face....

if you are concerned you are ill you need to see your doctor.

I have lost a lot of weight.. I had NO control over where I lost it.

at this point if i lose 2 or three pounds it shows in my face or my wrists or my chest and I get very bony and thin looking but my belly and thighs still look chubby...
