reader, anonymous, writes (25 October 2008): Because many people are superficial....no one wants an overweight person or someone to skinny...or someone with an ugly face....the first thing that people see are your looks and based on how attractive you are to them then they will talk to you...everyone has their preferences...im sure you do too....and also there are pretty people that have great personalities becuz I have one..im sure you are beautiful too..there is someone for everyone...people are going to be like that in high school if your age is correct...but I wouldn't let it fool me because those same pretty girls who you think have everything and a perfect life...they really don't and they are probably just as insecure as you..

you are at an age where looks matter more for everyone.All around you are teenagers.They are not really mature.Only life can teach maturity.Right now all they are looking for is sex or a trophy girl friend.When you reach our age you will realize guys look more for personality than looks.At our age a guy is looking to settle down.Character does matter to him.A pretty person is the one who believes in herself whatever other people think of her.A few years down the line you are going to meet someone who values you for YOU.Till then concentrate on your studies.Spend time with friends and family.Read more books.Increase your knowledge.Thank the lord for little favors.Help people who are not as gifted as you.For example you can take a person in a wheelchair to a park as you can walk.we are always here if you need more help.

 I think character is very important.
Take me for example. I was painfully shy at school. So shy I couldn't actually make my voice work if the teacher asked me a question in class. I was severely bullied, and I had very few friends at school.
The funny thing is, and I don't mean to boast, but I have always been told how pretty I am by strangers and friends (I still don't see it).
Those annoying girls who seem to get everything usually have confidence in spades, and were you to look at them without the makeup and perky attitudes they would seem pretty average. I know this doesn't help much, but I really understand your frustration but beleive me looks aren't everything!
