I started sleeping naked over the summer when it's super comfortable. What would she find wrong or objectionable with sleeping nude? Do you see objectionable with it? Reply to this Question Share |

Maybe your mother worries that people will enter your room to wake you up and end up seeing you naked. Maybe she's walked in and seen too much of you for her own liking. Not everyone are comfortable with nudity. Some people were raised to think that body, and nudity, is sinful. Maybe your mother is like that. I'm glad you're comfortable sleeping naked. I prefer to sleep naked as well, unless it's a bit chilly, then I wear a t-shirt. But I get what you mean, it's very comfortable to sleep naked.
But unless you can lock your door you might want to keep a top on at least. I used to share a bedroom with my younger brother, and he and his friends got to see a bit too much of me at times... walking into the room when I was still asleep and had kicked the covers off. I wasn't bothered by it, but I can understand how others would be bothered by it. You don't want to walk in and find your dad completely naked on the couch, you'd feel awkward. Maybe your mom just feels awkward about it.

couple of thoughts here
1. as a woman who has slept nude in the past... i now prefer just a ribbed knit tank top.... close to nude but some coverings.... so maybe that could be compromise you come up with???
2. as a mom who raised sons, I don't know what they slept in but I know if I had to have awaken them while they are sleeping, and they were nude and perhaps jumped up I would have been as embarrassed for them as they are for themselves.... so perhaps she is thinking of everyone's discomfort....
3. in an emergency at night where is your robe to wear? will you know to grab it or would you possible rush out of your room nude? I know that I don't always think to have "real clothes" laying around when I'm sleeping....
4. since you've asked and she is using the "because I said so" rule (not a good reason for employing it).... I'm sensing that there is something else that makes her uncomfortable about it.... like others said.... are there males in the house that might be excited by your nude sleeping (or even the IDEA OF IT?)) a step dad, older brothers,

She's probably concerned that you'll notice that you have a "down there".... AND that you might TOUCH yourself "down there...."
Can't you just wear a nighty or something for when she sees you, then remove the darn thing once you're under the covers?
I'm with you... sleep "al fresco" is the way to go.... especially if/when it's hot in the Summer....
P.S. IF/when I find a girl who's gullible enough to sleep WITH ME, I try to get her to do the same thing!!!!
good luck...

If you have brothers or a father...or if you have a blended family...she is concerned for your modesty.

I have been sleeping naked since I was about your age - way too many years ago to own up to! - and I wouldn't have it any other way. Summer or winter, it just feels great, especially just after a shower and with freshly laundered sheets.
So long as you don't embarrass anyone else whom you are living with, there is absolutely no problem.

I think it's just about modesty and maybe she feels it's being too vulnerable being naked. I say sleep in the nude, but have a night gown or t-shirt panties for when you get up and about. If she can't accept that... Why not panties and a tank top? It's not like that is SO much clothes that you will burn up over night.

I assume you live with your father? Maybe even brothers? I think it just makes for an uncomfortable situation to have her child sleeping in the nude. It is probably a little inappropriate when you aren't living completely on your own and someone could walk in on you. Plus just awkward for a mom to think about her 14 year old being nude. So I'm sure it's a little bit of everything.

She's uncomfortable with her own nudity, so she's uncomfortable with your nudity as well.
Lock your door. Sleep naked if you want to. It's your bed, and your room, and you're not hurting anyone or doing anything wrong by staying cool and comfortable while you're asleep.

When you are living by yourself then it's okay. When you have to go pee in the middle of the night do you wrap yourself up? It's kind of indiscreet if you live amongst male members in the family. Some moms find it embarrassing to imagine their daughters naked. They want to keep their relationships purely mother and daughter, as any awareness of sexual insight is disturbing.
