When it was first done my ear swelled up a bit and had a mild infection but I took antibiotics and the infection cleared. Now my pierced ear is the same size as the other and the piercing looks fine. Recently I touched the piercing, and afterwards my fingers smelled really foul. I've started cleaning it with saline solution, but within a few hours the piercing smells awful again. Does anybody know what could be making my piercing smell, how I can get rid of the smell, and if I should be worried? Reply to this Question Share |

It could be an infection but it could also be bacteria on the piercing itself. Try washing both your ear and the peircing with some anti bacterial soap and see if it does anything.
It could also be some sort of skin reaction to the type of metal unless its gold. silver or a steel which have low to no chance of causing irritation.

I think you need to go to the doctor. It sounds like you have an infection again.

They'll have more knowledge of what to do than doctors
