writes: Do you remember years ago when families used to sit in at nights? They had no TV, no computer games, no telephones, no DVD's, no video recorders etc etc. They had one another! They had TIME to get to know one another, to BE with one another to LISTEN to one another. Since all the inventions mentioned above have come into existence then this is virtually impossible to do. Everyone is always so busy! They come in from work at night and "vegetate" in front of the TV then slump off to bed... exhausted!Children of today "need" more things, which can make them "high maintenance" and this puts pressure on the parents to get them what their friends have! In this day and age the woman often works as well as the man, again this puts pressure on the family circle. Not only has she the house to keep in order but can often be overburdened both at work physically and of course mentally (what she brings home cerebrally.) This in turn causes friction within the family as she tries to juggle the house with her job. It is also harder today for a man to earn a decent wage and pressure can be put on him if the woman brings more money in than he does. Money is a big problem within the family unit too. Things are much more expensive today and are "needed!" It is bad enough for some families even to pay the necessary bills needed to keep them afloat without added pressure of the latest PC consuls, mobile phones, DVD players and the like. The government of course puts up taxes and invents MORE taxes for the working class family to pay. All of this builds pressure for both the husband and wife and tension emanates from these pressures.Women of today are very much pressured into "looking" a certain way! They buy magazines of celebrities and try to copy how they look. What they forget is that most of the pictures in their magazines are air-brushed to make the celebrity look their best. Extra inches are removed, spots and blemishes are taken out and their teeth and eyes are made to look whiter. Infidelity is rife amongst couples too, sex is much easier to "get" nowadays than it ever was and this in turn breeds deceit, resentment, lies and a lack of trust between married couples. For the children there is peer-pressure - THIS is the way I must look, THIS is cool (again, pressure to naive teenagers which result in bulimia, anorexia, even death). There are millions of unwanted pregnancies amongst teenagers too. Drugs speak for themselves, so easy to get nowadays yet so lethal and drink is consumed by children as young as 6 and 7 years of age causing them to become alcoholics as teenagers, gangs for some teenagers are the "in" thing, getting in with the "in-crowd" is the place to be, no matter what the cost... Statistics have shown youngsters who have committed suicide because of this needing to "conform" within society and of course ALL of this adds MORE pressure to the family unit. The food we eat today is another contributory factor. All the "junk" food and "fast food" that we eat is filled with 'E' numbers, colourings, aspartame and fat... which in turn causes lethargy, mood swings, laziness and of course heart disease and obesity. Never before have human beings suffered from so many diseases mostly contributed from the food they put into their bodies. All of this brings pressure on a marriage which can result in it breaking up. Families and partners no longer spend "quality" time together, there is no communication any more, two things very much NEEDED to keep a family close. I have only touched on a few things but of course here is a lot more. Thanks for reading…~Eve~
