writes:Why do some men show extra affection to their girlfriend in front of other women? This happens to me sometimes in public places, like the grocery store. It is like these men are showing off. As if I am going to be jealous, or impressed. I could care less! I am happily married, but of course they don't know that.

 I suspect they're doing it so their girlfriends don't feel jealous. You may be a threat to their ego. Have you ever thought about that?

reader, anonymous, writes (6 September 2007): Female point of view here: I have seen this happen a lot, as well. I think this is really quite funny too, because really who's he trying to kid. A lot of men love to look at other attractive females. (Some ogle blatantly and others do it discreetly). So, I have always thought men suddenly show the extra affection to their women, because it's a psychological reflex /reaction to his guilty feelings of allowing himself to admire another attractive woman, other than his gf/wife. And maybe he's thanking his lucky stars he wasn't caught! lol It's like he suddenly snaps back to reality. He's placating his own guilt. This is just the way I interpret it. I'd be interested in hearing other views on this.

 cause if they love theyre girl theyre proud of her like when my boyfriend got his cellphone he took a dozen pictures of me to show off to his friends and family and weve been in love for a pretty long time now when a guy has a great girl they like to show her off

 Maybe it has little to do with showing off to you, and more to do with making his woman feel special by him showering her with attention so that she does not feel threated by other women.

 I do that to my girlfriend ALL the time, haha. Personally, for me it's more of, "I'm taken, this is my girlfriend. Leave me alone"
But it could any number of things, he's worried you'll be jealous, or maybe he is showing off, either way, he's just so proud of having you, he's willing to show off, probably.
Besides, would you rather have him give you extra affection infront of other women, or none at all? Count your blessings.
