A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

hi, in the past i have had boyfriends, but nothing has ever come of them. i have also met two people who i met online, we got on great chatting, and when we decided to meet up it just was a disaster, mainly me, i found that in person i couldnt talk so easy to them.

at the moment i am chatting to a really lovely guy, he talks with respect, is polite and makes me laugh, he has mentioned a meet up and up to now i have put it off, i dont want to keep putting it off though, but im afraid that if i do meet him i will be the same.

can anyone tell me why i am like this? how come i can chat great in the beginning, but after a while i find it so hard to make conversation.

A female reader, Tine United Kingdom +, writes (4 November 2009):

Tine agony auntmaybe because you are not actually face to face with this person. However i think that meeting people first on the internet is such a good idea because you get to fin out what there into before actually meeting them so you more or less have a base for your conversations.

What do you guys do when you meet each other? is it dinner or coffee?? Personally i would suggest doing a fun activity such as bowling etc. that way you can make conversation and also be distracted by the game so that you are not talking the whole entire time.

Use the internet chatting as an opportunity to find out what their likes and dislikes are, what kind of movies they like, what is their favourite tv programme etc and that base your knowledge for your conversations. Also i would try and figure out a good couple of question sto ask them on the date so that you are not the one who is doing all the talking and also it shows to them that are actually interested in them!

good luck!!
