maybe because you are not actually face to face with this person. However i think that meeting people first on the internet is such a good idea because you get to fin out what there into before actually meeting them so you more or less have a base for your conversations.
What do you guys do when you meet each other? is it dinner or coffee?? Personally i would suggest doing a fun activity such as bowling etc. that way you can make conversation and also be distracted by the game so that you are not talking the whole entire time.
Use the internet chatting as an opportunity to find out what their likes and dislikes are, what kind of movies they like, what is their favourite tv programme etc and that base your knowledge for your conversations. Also i would try and figure out a good couple of question sto ask them on the date so that you are not the one who is doing all the talking and also it shows to them that are actually interested in them!
good luck!!
