A female United States age , anonymous writes:

The year after I graduated from high school, I had a sexual encounter with a boy I had graduated with and known well. 40 years later we have reconnected...problem is I do not remember the encounter and he remembers every detail right down to what I was wearing. Why would I forget this?

Honeypie agony auntI too am wondering if he has the right girl.

Who doesn't remember one (or THE one) first guy you had sex with? Now you may not remember details such as what you/he wore but the general gist of it? Sure you would remember.

So either HE has the wrong girl or he is making himself "familiar" to you in a really odd way. Kind of letting you know that you two ALREADY know each oh so well because of the past encounter.

Like Bim Bim says... date rape drug comes to mind if you remember absolutely nothing. Which is a scary thought.

Do you, in general, have "holes" in your memories?

If not... I'd actually take what he says with a grain of salt.

Aunty BimBim agony auntI'm also wondering if he has the right girl, especially if you don't even remember having sex with him.

Even if you were blotto on alcohol you would remember some of the circumstances of the evening ... if he insists it was you maybe somebody had slipped something into a drink ... be careful of him, maybe have a trace or check done and see if you can subtly verify where he has been and what he has been doing for the past 40 years.

Take care.

A female reader, Youcannotbeserious United Kingdom +, writes (18 September 2017):

Youcannotbeserious agony auntAre you absolutely sure it happened? Is he perhaps mistaking you for someone else? After all, it was 40 years ago and our memories can play tricks. Perhaps he fantasized about this happening but his brain has somehow turned it from a fantasy into a memory? A horrifying possibility is that you may have been drugged.

It is very strange that you do not even remember the encounter, no matter now vaguely. I would be very suspicious and very careful.
