writes: Hey. I haven’t put any weight on since I started my period – that was aged 12. I’m 18 now. I’m 5’2 and barely weigh 7 stone. I’m not happy with my figure. I want to put weight on and I wish I was curvier. I don’t think I’ve grown at all since about 13. My body’s become fuller and I’ve grown a few inches but my figure hasn’t changed. If anything, I’ve lost weight since I was 12.It’s like there’s a barrier stopping me from gaining weight: I’ve never been more than 7 stone 4. My mum has the same problem. She can lose weight easily but can’t put more than a certain amount on. Though she weighs a lot more than me and her weight was more when she was my age. There’s nothing wrong with my eating pattern, although I had problems on and off for about two years. Because of anxiety, I couldn’t eat anything for the first half of the day without being sick and it’d go on for 2/3 weeks. It’d happen every few weeks/months. It only stopped last year. I weighed more when this was happening, but my weight’s dropped since then although I eat a lot more now. So why aren’t I putting weight on?I’d also like to know if there’s a link between weight and growth. If I’d have put more weight on when I was younger, would I have grown a bit more? And if I put weight on now, would I look like I’ve grown? Would I have more cleavage eventually? I feel like I’m living in the body of a 12 year old! Thanks.

If I have not completely meesed up converting the stones in Kg. ( that's possible :) you are just very slightly underweight. You are around 47 kg.,right ? For your age and height, the ideal weight is between 48.5 and 53.5 Kg.
So,no big deal- You will ,sort of inevitably, gain some weight with age. Metabolism starts slowing down in your 30s...To gain some healthy weight, like the other poster said, you should hit the gym and build some muscle, rather deciding to eat only Big Macs and chips from now on :)
But, as someone who has the opposite problem, ( I have a very slow metabolism and I gain weight just from looking at food ! ) I'll confess that your problem ,more than concern, triggers in me an atrocious envy..:)

I have the same problem, I'm a little over 7 stone and also 5'2. There isn't much you can do, your metabolism is likely very high, and burns up the calories you take in before your body has a chance to convert it to fat.
Relatives often ask prying questions about my eating habits and like to poke fun, thinking just because I'm thin, it's not going to bother me or make me self-conscious. It's terrible.
If you exercise a bit and build some muscle, it could help somewhat, though won't do much in adding curves. Just make sure you increase your calorie intake to match your activity level, otherwise you'll lose weight rather than gain it.
Whatever you do, don't go on food binges. That's the worst way to put on weight, not to mention incredibly unhealthy.
As for the correlation between weight and growth, I doubt they're related in that way. Excluding factors such as malnutrition, how much you grow is for the most part determined by your genes.
