You see parents who give their son a credit card on prom night to pay for the hotel room afterwards, but tell the girl that she better be home by a certain time? Why does the world regard female sexuality as a bad thing? Why can't girls have the same sexual freedom that guys do? Reply to this Question Share |

oh yea and another thing, most of my girl friends at school appreciate their female role, and these differences. although it doesn't make sense to feminists and a lot of women.... i think they are trying to act cute. just something i forgot to mention- not every woman ahs a problem with this

feminists... but anyway that is besides the point. i think it has something to do with the concept of sperm being numerous, and egg being very few. in other species besides humans, the males job is mostly to make as many females pregnant as they can, and spread their genes to as many as possible. females however, are more selective and choose their mate if they seem worthy of their egg. maybe that has somethign to do with how society thinks, your parents probably think "omfg, don't sleep with someone and get pregnant until you're married or with someone you know you'll be with", but for guys its probably "yeah, nice going!" its probably a test for guys, since they are traditionally the ones to ask people out and propose... yeah this is just my opinion.. ::braces self for bad ratings, not that i care lol::

For a very long time women have lived in a patriarchal society. They didn't have right to inherit until they reached the age of 23 or they got married. They didn't have the right to vote. They didn't get any higher education, so they thought their guy was right most of the time. It was only in the 20th century when women started demanding equal rights that things started changing. Obviously equality doesn't come over night, so therefore there are still some leftovers from that society which manifests itself in various ways:
the standard example in medicine studies is a man's body
generally women get payed a little less for doing the same job as a man
boys get more of the teacher's time than the girls in school
I'm sure that if you sit down and think about it you could come up with a lot more of every day examples of differences in how we treat men and women.
Just remember that men are not all at fault for this, but women also need to stand up for themselves and dare take more space and question the way they agree with certain attitudes which belong in centuries past. By this I don't mean that you need to become an activist and burn your bras or something that extreme, but the next time one of your acquaintances refers to a girl as a "slut" for sleeping around, maybe you'll stand up for her. Or the next time you're in a meeting at work and some guy cuts you off in mid-sentence you will tell him that you didn't finish speaking.
Good luck changing the world! =)
