I wake up in the morning tired and can't wait to get back home and sleep, I spend all day in week struggling to stay awake (and I find myself nodding off at my desk!) and even ther thought of going out for a day or on holiday puts me off, because that means getting up early! I sit down when I get home from work and doze on the sofa...it's not children as they're all grown up, it's not too much exercise, I'm too tired to do anything. I cancel plans last minute because I can't muster the energy to get ready and go out. Please help me, this is ruining my life. I'm only 53 and have had a series of upsets and loss over the last 2 years, which I'm still struggling with, my relationship of 2 years ended because I never wanted to be physical or make an effort to do anything...and I'm glad because now I'm on my own I don't have to do anything!I have had all blood tests done and they came back fine, I feel like I'm not getting anywhere with the doctor...although she did say she thought it was depression and referred me to counselling (my dad died 18 months ago and I nursed him for the 4 months he was dying. I've been to one counseller which was pointless so can't see the point of another...I just want to feel alive, awake and ready to tackle anything...the way I used to feel.

I was like this too a few years ago, I just couldn't stay awake, and was nodding off at work and eventually it got so bad that I was doing the same whilst driving so I went to my GP and they did several blood tests, and it turned out that I was anemic.
You say that you have been to your GP, but have they done any blood tests, it could possibly be that you are suffering with the same. However, if the GP has said you may be suffering with depression and perhaps you may be taking medication for this ??? then the medication could be making you sleepy.
Either way, I would suggest visitng your GP again.
Good luck and hope you get it sorted!
