Why am I different down there?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I recently removed most of my pubic hair and I've come to notice that my skin down there is about 2-3 shades darker than my normal skin. Some of my friends who have removed their hair claim that their skin is lighter. Is there something wrong with mine?
