Both the other posters have a point as well. Hormone imbalance can create mood swings, of course depression does. Change in diet can create a hormone imbalance, and stress can create a stress induced depression, if your mind is taking in and housing the stress. If it's adult style stress, such as with difficulties adults are dealing with, your mind with everything else that's going on such as school, social, "normal" teen things, balance may be getting overwhelmed. Your suppose to be focusing on what helps you to grow as a teen. The biggest worry you should be taking on aside from schools is if Papa Smurf is going to save all the other little blue Smurf's from that evil dude.
I would go to a counselor, ask your family if they can take you so they can properly diagnose this for you. The earlier the better so you can be back up to enjoying your teen life again.

A natural -but not very cheap- treatment that helps me a lot is called: Neu Be calm'd. You have to order it online. It will help you a lot although it won't be instantly you'll have to take it daily on a empty stomach.
You can always go to therapy and see what the Dr. prescribes. But natural supplements are better.

Try and remember it is a temporary state of mind and will pass.
Keep well

how long has this been going on? any chance of being pregnant? change of birth control or start of a new one? rapid change in dietary habits? added stress at home or school?
You didn't give much information to go on. There are many reasons why someone might be off balance.
