I feel like there is an unspoken (maybe outdated?) rule that the man leads i.e. asks the woman out, calls first, says I love you first, etc. Is it better to let him take the lead (or at least let him think so!) or should we ladies go on ahead?

This question assumes that man and woman love each other, they both know that, but the relationship can't start if the man does not speak first. If both love each other, perhaps taking the initiative would help, whoever says the three words first.

Whoever feels it first and wants it out there says it first.
