To find out if I'm expecting.:)Should I keep the appointment for the blood test or get a home pregnancy test and if it turns out negative I can use this appointment for a pap smear and to go back on birth control?I just found out I have to make separate appointments and it takes soooo long for them to schedule me a new one. On the other hand, I could just wait a few days in between no rush. But, I want accurate results! Home pregnancy test vs. Blood test?

Do both but home preg test kit is good :) and almost accurate.
You can do tests 4 days before your period is due.

A home pregnancy test is very accurate (not 100% but near enough!) so long as you follow the instructions carefully. Having said that weeing on a stick and timing a result isn't rocket science. Different tests have different sensitivity and they are looking for a hormone in your urine that signals pregnancy. Your body doesn't produce a high level of this hormone (HCG) until you have been pregnant a few weeks. Therefore you could be very early into pregnancy and have a false negative result on the test. However, if you have missed a period then you would generally be pregnant-enough to use a home kit. In the UK, doctors don't even bother doing blood tests for pregnant women without complications anymore. They just rely on the patient having taken a home test kit in many instances. I would also add that if you suspect pregnancy, start taking folic acid right away as it is quite important for foetal development!
