Where are the best places to to meet older women?

A age 36-40, * writes:

This is partially a relationship issue and partially a life issues/opinion on life issues question.

Why does society like to poke fun at men who date older women (even slightly older than them, not huge age gaps)?

If a man dates a much younger woman, society tends not to pay much attention to it (save for things like the Anna Nicole Smith and billionaire oil merchant J.Howard Marshall III and Sven-Goran Eriksson, both of which have had extensive media coverage) but when the situation's reversed, people poke fun at it and it's

"fair game" for them.

I myself like to date women slightly older than me, 5 - 10 years older (11 being the absolute limit!), and I feel there's nothing wrong with it - if the relationship's consensual, and you're of legal age, and not harming anyone, what is there to worry about?

I know I may sound confident, but what sounds good in theory (above) hasn't worked out in practise for me.

Where can I meet women slightly older than me other than work? (in work dating employees is forbidden) - I won't use the Internet for meeting people seeing as Internet dating is a slightly controversial method, to say the least.

Most of my interests are male-dominated, so I don't really get much chance to meet women at them, and in work, dating is against the terms of employment/frowned upon, so where are the best places??

Also, thank you for answering my previous question on a similar topic area at http://www.dearcupid.org/question/i-cant-seem-to-get-into-a-relationship.html, the advice was useful.

All advice is appreciated

SirenaBlusera agony auntExactly what are your interests?

Perhaps your interests are male-dominated, but I feel like the more things you have in common with your mate, the better.

Many women are interested in male-dominated things.

I'm a woman, and I study karate and play the guitar. The majority of people involved in these things are guys. People often stereotype American women and say that we have no interests and it burns me up... but my point is, you can find someone with common interests! Not all girls are girly-girls. I never was. :)

Unfortunately, I live in another country, so I'm not available for you... sorry... but my point is, that you can find someone who likes the same things as you.

Why have you ruled out the internet? I know there are risks, but if you use your common sense, open up your eyes, and use caution... then I would check that out. For all you know, the right person for you is awaiting you on an internet. There are psychos out there, so use caution. Just don't be too trusting of strangers. Maybe a chat room pertaining your interests? I'm curious as to what they are.

Danielepew agony auntPeople will always say something bad about your choice of women. Just don't pay attention.

Age could be important, depending on whether the different perspective it brings makes you two so different that you can't work your differences out. But, some perfectly happy couples are of very different ages.

I would focus on where to meet women. The "slightly older than me" is a bit too much asking. I hope you won't ask them to wear age tags. And, your asking for this sort of betrays your belief that age doesn't matter. If it doesn't matter, really, then there's no need to find someone "slightly older" than you. I see that your definition of that term includes women ten years older, which, again, is something not many people would agree with.

You seem to be a good guy with somewhat nerdy interests. Go to libraries, cafés, and the like. Go alone to the movies and you'll catch somebody's attention. Only don't wear a t-shirt and Converse sneakers. Dress more seriously and that will do the trick. Some "slightly older women" won't want to date you if you dress that way.

What would be wrong with dating Sandra Bullock? I just saw her in "The Proposal" and I would take her anytime!!!
