Hi, I'm just going into my second trimester of pregnancy and I was wondering when the best time to begin buying baby items. I've bought most of the smaller things, but I don't know if starting to create the nursery now is a good idea or not. I'm wondering because my mom had all her children early and didn't have any items boughten yet and I don't want to be unprepared, but on the other hand, my aunt had been pregnant and had boughten all her baby items during the second trimester and ended up having a late miscarrage/stillborn. So any advice will be much appreciated!

If you need to buy clothes if you dont mind turning back the cuffs etc buy 0-3months.2nd to last trimester. Come on who does wait until the last minute to buy them. you are so excited to be pregnant you want to buy things as soon as you find out you are pregnant but be sensible and wait until at least after the first 12 weeks have passed when everything has settled down in your pregnancy.the last few weeks buy a few newborn and a couple premature /preemie 5-8lbs in the last few weeks before delivery the average baby weighs 7.5lbs at birth and the average uk baby garments are for babies weighing up to 10lbs.

2nd and 3rd babies due tend to be larger than the first baby.If you are wooried about the smaller sized clothes as your midwife when you are about 7 months if it will be a big baby for a ruogh guide.visit www.cheekychumsonline.co.uk for premature baby clothes choices galore

Honeypie agony auntI have 3 kids and every pregnancy was different:) With the first (planned) I bought stuff from even before I was pregnant when I say something I liked on sale. Stuff like onesies, socks, neutral pants, bibs, diapers ( omg I had diapers stocked up! lol). Then at 5 months I was told the gender and from then on I bought gender specific stuff. My oldest is a girls and her nursery was ready at about 2 months before she was born.

We had planned to only have one child so I (stupidly) gave away most of her baby stuff and had to start over when I found out I was pregnant with #2. However this time I actually waited to shop for most things til about a week before I was due. Good thing too because the OB expected me to deliver early and have a small preemie - I had a 10 lbs baby at 40 weeks.... She wouldn't have fit a single preemie thing..

Look for good deals. Such as crib/bed/stroller/carseat.. If you can put it on layaway and take it out when you get closer to your due date and when the "nesting" strikes you :)

Happy pregnancy!

sheribaby38 agony aunti started buying things when i was about 4 months pregnant. i just wanted to be sure i was not going to miscarriage. i wanted to find out the sex of the baby so i could know what to buy pink or blue. with my first they couldnt tell so i bought yellow and green and white stuff and of course all leapard print blankets and stroller and baby bag but thats just my style. if your super rich good for you but if your not i wouldnt go out and buy all new expencive clothes for your baby cuz they dont wear anything very long. ask friends for good hand me downs or visit some thrift stores and yard sales to save money. its fun to get good stuff and saveing money too for diapers and toys and stuff like that! enjoy all the wonderful things you have to look foreward to and and dont take a single minute for granted they grow up so fast!!
