If your guy wears a condom and its used correctly then you should be highly protected whatever time of the month it is. Don't risk unprotected sex at anytime as you can fall pregnant pretty much anytime of the month. All it takes is one strong swimmer.

don't take chances if you are not ready for a baby, pregnancies happen all the time.

Best time to get pregnant is after a period - usually about 10 days after last day of period. However, women vary in their ovulation so you can get a test to chart your fertile times.

reader, anonymous, writes (14 August 2007): Hi there, a women is most fertile (able to fall pregnant) when they ovulate which is usually 14 days into your cycle. So if you count 14 days from your 1st day of your period that is the day you are most able to fall pregnant eg. if your period starts on the 1st of august and ends on the 5th of august then you are most fertile on the 14th of august. Hope that makes sense??
