I've had unprotected sex (We've been tested) a few times as well as times with condoms. I took my last active pill this cycle on Friday and am worried that it is Sunday night and I have yet to get my period. Though, starting late Saturday morning I began experiencing severe cramps, bloating, fatigue, and severe lower back pain. It has just started to stop now late Sunday night. I have had uterine problems in the past, I actually had to have surgery last year at age 23 for them. So, I don't know if I'm just having the 'once in a while' horrible period, having a delayed period due to the pills, or am experiencing the early symptoms of pregnancy. I have taken my birth control pills on time everyday this cycle. So, am I being paranoid and should just wait another day and see what happens? Or should I go and get a pregnancy test?

Love, all I can say is get regular check-ups at nearby clinics at least once every two months. Furthermore, don't be having unprotected sex. :( Birth control or not, there is always the possibility your specific system may not handle or comply with the promises that birth control makes. Always use a condom. Birth control is merely a plus. If necessary, check up at Planned Parenthood. :) they are really helpful, and will provide you with all necessary precautions to prevent this kind of situation, as well as the check-ups, fre of charge! good luck

I also am on birth control and it is not uncommon for me to have delayed periods. Also, some months my period might be a little more painful or heavy than the last. It's pretty common. I also often get back pain during my cycles. So, I honestly think you are just experiencing a bad, delayed period and a little bit of anxiety because it was your first times having sex. So, have no fear! I am sure you are probably fine.
But some things to consider: Have you been on antibiotics lately? Have you had any sort of stomach illness? Vomiting, diarrhea, etc? (Gross, I know, lol.) Have you missed any pills? All can lessen the effectiveness of the pill.
If the answer to those questions is no, my guess is that you are fine and just slightly paranoid. If the answer is yes and within the next few days you still experience nothing, you might want to test yourself.
But, like I said, I think you are fine and just a little anxious! Best of luck! ;-)
