I use a venus disposible razor with some sort of shaving gel. I have tried alternatives to shaving like Nair and products similar to it but they don't seem to do anything. Is there any thing I can do to prevent this from happening or is there any other products you can suggest that will not result in extreme pain. Thanks so much for your advice. -Aria Reply to this Question Share |

But I found something that works miracles when you have to use disposable razors... OLIVE OIL. Shave with any old olive oil, and your legs will come out baby soft, extremely smooth and pain free. Only problems with this is that it puts a ring around the tub and you have to make sure you rinse your razor out thoroughly after and during uses. Hope this helps!!!

I have very sensitive skin too so what i would hightly recommend is to moisturise your legs (or the part of skin you want to shave) BEFORE shaving. Then wait for 5 min before shaving. Shave with a mens type rasor like gillette salom blue. NOT venus blades or other womens blades!. These are terrible for me! For shaving, put on lots of shaving gel or a very thick coat of liquid soap, like Dove. On the 1st passage to shave, you must do this IN the direction of the hair growth, not against the hair growth. (you can do this at second passage) Do not press your rasor blade too hard on your skin. If you should want to pass a second time over, do put on a second layer of the gel or soap. After shaving, when dry, put a few layers (wait a few minutes between each layer) of a very moiturising lotion for DRY skin. Good luck! Hugs

Try a sensitive shaving gel or a baby lotion. and moisturise after.
maybe a different razor might help.
have you ever tried veet shaving kit? they do one for sensitive skin, you just leave it on and then wash off works a treat.

Change your razors often, and make sure to use plenty of gel. The pain you are feeling probably means that you're using a razor that needs to be replaced. You could also go the wax or lazer treatment route...

Get one wiht 4 blades so you dont have to shave over the same place more than once. And dont buy disposable, as they are less well made and not as sharp.
I also have sensitive skin and this works well for me. I would be careful with creams as they are actually highly irritating chemicals, and really really dont leave them on longer than reccomended if your skin is sensitive, you could do yourself real harm, if you react badly to the chemical.
My only other idea is to use more shaving cream or a higher quality one!!

When you have tried using creams like nair have you been leaving it on long enough as i use it myself and find you have to spread it on very thickly and leave it there for about twenty mins for it to work properly and then it is very effective, failing that there are other options such as laser treatment which is lenghty and can be expensive but also work very well.
Take care.xx.
