When I am naked he doesn't get an erection...is this normal?

Question - (30 November 2007) 7 Answers - (Newest, 26 May 2008)
A female United Kingdom age 51-59, anonymous writes:

What does it mean when you can be entirely naked in the shower, with your boyfriend talking to you (sat on the toilet) and he doesn't get an erection...

Any ideas? Does it mean he doesn't find you arousing? Does it mean he could be gay? Does it perhaps mean he is having an off day? Aren't men supposed to be governed by what is in their trousers? Aren't they meant to be visually stimulated?

Any advice much appreciated.

about a week or 2 ago i was about to lose my virginity to a girl i found attractive, it was the first time i touched and saw a naked girl. did i get an erection - nope. that was down to several factors like i had too much alcohol (though i knew what i was doing) and fatigue. as well as nerves.

men are not always aroused by simply seeing a naked women. i mean i don't think most would get an erection if they saw a nude women in an artistic photograph (if they do that's just weird).

sorry if i sound angry, i'm just a bit annoyed still about last week.

Dr. John agony auntWhat is normal?

There are as many physialogical responses to different situations as there are people on earth.

What may be normal for one person may be completely abnormal for another.

Different ways people are raised in most cases will govern what their responses are to different situations.

I know of guys who don't seem to have any response to stimulus until they are getting undressed to play.

I also know yet others who just get a glimpse of a girl that tickles their fancy and suddenly they are standing at attention.

No, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Doc

Men are NOT governed by "what is in their trousers" and I would say that is borderline sexism. You can't expect a man to get an erection every time he sees you naked (hell, half the time we get erections for no reason at all). Don't be so full of yourself!

And when you say he was sat on the toilet, do you mean he was actually using it? Because you can't expect him to get aroused if he's going to the bathroom.

eddie agony auntReally, this is ridiculous. We're not seals in the circus. Men don't get an erection every time they see a nude woman. At your age you should know that. Gay???? Does your vagina become wet every time you see a nude man? Do you feel like having sex every time you see your guy naked? If not, are you a lesbian? Guys can't win.
