Ten days later, even though I know it is unlikely that we conceived, I feel weird. PMS-like symptoms, nausea/hunger, everything smells and tastes different (my favorite, peanut butter, tasted like sour cream and onion chips-ew), light tingling feeling in my breasts. My period isn't due for another 2.5-3 weeks. Do I have to wait until I miss it or can I test earlier? Don't want to waste money testing if it is too early. Thanks for any help or advice.

I find that my breast swell 2 cups sizes about 2 weeks before I get a period. Normally you should wait atleast 4 weeks to get a decent and more reliable result from the take home pregnancy tests. However if you cant wait the 2.5- 3 weeks to see if you miss it, you can always go to the doctors to have them give you a quicker response.
Personally i would wait to see if I get my period. No need really to get a test until then. If you and your boyfriend are ok with the prospect of being parents and there is no real issue, just wait. If you miss your period by 5 or 7 day, take a test.

However, we have discussed the possibility of pregnancy several times and we'd both love to be parents eventually. Thanks to anyone who was trying to help- my question was about the timing of potential conception and if that affected when I could test, not "woe is me, I done been knocked up" lol.

If you conceived right after your period (which is possible) you can take the test a little earlier and it may or may not show--it depends on how much hormone your body is producing. Although, 10 days after conception would be rather early to be having symptoms. Get a two-pack test. Take one now and if it shows negative then wait and see if you get your period--if not, then take the other test.

We'd both be happy if it turned out I was expecting. I am simply nervous and would like to know ASAP- no need to be insulting or to assume that I lack intelligence.

If you think you might be pregnant because of all these symptoms, me thinks you might want to ask yourself if you are TRYING to get pregnant and TRAP your boyfriend.
Maybe have a think on that for a day.
Gooooood Luck with your test, by the way, We can't tell you if you are pregnant or not....pass it on.
