What's the deal with the student/ teacher fantasies?

This may seem a but random, but please bear with me:

what's the deal with student/ teacher fantasies? i've been hearing a lot of talk lately about how it's a man's "greatest fantasy" (and how they even go as far as watching porn on the subject) but it's the girls i know who like teachers. is this because men fantasize about being the teacher and women about being the student? or do guys fantasize about being the student, too?

i'm sorry; this does seem awfully random but it's been on my mind. any experience on this subject would be appreciated.

Quite frankly; loads of people fantasise about all kinds of things. Fetishism is popular. Some teachers do fantasise about their students; fantasising is ok, it's only when you act on fantasies.

Personally, I love fantasizing about a certain teacher I had in 9th grade. It's really fun actually, but that's just how I see it. I respect other people's opinions and I'm sure others will think it's sick. Everyone is different.

A male reader, NightLad Canada +, writes (8 April 2009):

NightLad agony auntI think there is a big distinction between the people who develop feelings of love for a teacher, and those who just get off on the fantasy.

For some people it is just another fetish, probably linked to a domination kink of an authority figure.

As for the people who develop more-than-platonic feelings for their teacher, I’d refer you to SirenaBlusera’s excellent (and 5-stay worthy) response.

SirenaBlusera agony auntI'm a teacher, but it would make me feel uncomfortable if a student felt that way about me.

I do care about the kids, and it makes me a little sad to think that perhaps some of them don't get the love at home that they deserve. I think that some of them are looking to fill that void. There has to be that boundary as we all know.

I've had feelings for MY teachers. I didn't have the happiest home in the world. I was never abused or anything, and my parents got me some nice things, but my parents fought a lot and I felt lonely. I've moved on with my life, but in college I fell in love with a professor who was a little older than me (I never told him my feelings but I think he had an inking).

I told my good friend about how I felt and he said that girls like me, who fall for teachers, have "father issues."

I think that kids who fall in love with their teachers are trying to fill some sort of void. I don't think of the kids as being on a par with me. I'm responsible for more than teaching them Spanish, I'm responsible for their moral development. I hate those creepy teachers who get involved with their students (I don't know of any!) because they're failing in their responsibility and taking advantage of some kid who probably has problems at home.
