The shy guy with a big smile on his face said Yes but then he looked at me and said No I don't have a girlfriend I am just kidding...and came a bit closer to me and went quiet. Just wondering Why did he say that ? What was the need for him to clarify that looking at me?I know for sure he doesn't have a girlfriend.

You want certainties he likes you; before you get the nerve to introduce yourself to the guy and give him a break? Nobody knows what's going on in his head but him!
He may have a girlfriend, but might have a crush on you. Guys don't usually say they have a girlfriend, and then say they don't. Then it's suspect!
Start a conversation with him and give him an opening; so you two can stop circling each other! Please!
Ask him if he has a girlfriend, or does it depend on who's asking? Great opening-line! I get the creeps when people stare at me and don't say anything.

Imagine if he has a crush on you, and by some miracle the person he has a crush on asked him out. Even if you just befriend him or go for coffee to see what may evolve.. There’s no harm in that, and you would know where his mind is, with you. You might be the one who makes his heart flutter and his hands sweat in nervousness, because he can’t help but feel he likes you. Life is funny that way.
